“Peeling the onion”

“First layer is old and dirty, and you feel it is dirty, it is time to peel it off. It is difficult and painful, because you have identified yourself with the layers, you think it is you. Then you peel it off, and you feel good. But then the second layer is clean, fresh, you don’t want to peel that one, it feels so familiar, comfortable. And it goes on. The closer you are to the core, the more difficult it is to let go, the more you start clinging to the layers.

So people start clinging to the worldly things, even to the spiritual things - these are the layers. They say: “Such beautiful light happens to me, help me so that I can always experience this light.” Light is an experience, it is not you. You are the experiencer, the witness. Before you were experiencing money, now you experience light, but it is the same, the object.

Drop it, drop it all, the light, the visions, the rising kundalini, etc. It is all layers. You have to peel the onion, until you reach nothingness. Spirituality is not an experience, it is to fall back to the experiencer itself.”
